Located at Gyro Park near the boat launch, Trail Skatepark, also known as SK8 Park, is an all-ages family-friendly amenity with 13 great features, including rails and a large bowl. The park offers a safe and inclusive space for skateboard enthusiasts of all levels to practice and hone their skills.
During the summer months, the Trail Skatepark hosts free drop-in skateboard coaching sessions. From July 4 to August 24, 2023, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, participants can learn to skateboard with the guidance of skilled Skatepark Hosts. Helmets and armour are mandatory during lessons, and participants are encouraged to bring their own gear. However, the park also provides skateboards, helmets, and armour free of charge for those who need them.
The construction of the Trail SK8 Park was completed on October 22, 2018, by New Line Skateparks, a provider of large-scale municipal skatepark construction services based in Langley, BC. Funding for the project came from various sources, including a $150,000 grant from the Columbia Basin Trust, $445,000 from the City of Trail, and donations from the Society for the Friends of the Trail Skatepark and the Murphy Family Foundation.
