Treble Cone Ski Area is the biggest ski resort in the South Island of New Zealand. Covering 550 hectares and reaching up to 2088m high, it's a great spot for skiers and snowboarders to get stuck in. It’s got the longest vertical in the Queenstown Southern Lakes District – that’s a 700m drop and lifts going up to 1260m.
Sam, the organiser, wants to highlight that Treble Cone’s got pretty quiet groomed runs, stretching over 4km, perfect for beginners and intermediates. For those after a bit more excitement, about 45% of the area is advanced off-piste terrain, famous among more experienced riders.
On the mountain, there are five spots to grab a bite, with great views of Lake Wānaka and the Southern Alps. Great place to refuel.
If you're looking to up your game, the private lessons are top-notch. One-on-one with experienced instructors – whether it's working on your technique or tackling tougher runs, these lessons are tailored for you.
Getting to Treble Cone is a breeze with their transport service, so no hassle driving up yourself.
In summer, you can still check out the area. The access road and car park are open, but just be careful of any maintenance or development work going on. No entry to the buildings though.
Sam encourages everyone to share their adventures on social media using @TREBLECONENZ and #TREBLECONE.
So, welcome to Treble Cone Ski Area – the largest in the South Island. Enjoy the runs, the views, and the food. It’s a snow experience you won’t forget.
