Tredegar Park Skatepark, also known as Carve Wicked, is a popular skate park located in Newport, New Zealand. The park was designed with the input of a group of young people who helped choose the design and features, resulting in a park that caters to a range of skating styles and abilities.
The skatepark features various sections, including a bowl section, a street section, a peanut bowl, and a bike jump. These different sections provide opportunities for skaters of all levels to practise and showcase their skills.
For parents visiting the skatepark with younger children, it is advised that they supervise their children due to high numbers of users. However, there are quieter periods on weekend mornings, which may be more suitable for younger children to visit and enjoy the park.
The Street section of the park is recommended for 5-8 year olds under adult supervision. This area is suitable for scooter users, skateboarders, and BMX riders. Skaters aged 9 years and over who are competent can utilise the mini bowl, main bowl, and bike run. It is important to note that BMX riders are not allowed to use pegs on any of these areas.
The peanut bowl, on the other hand, is only suitable for experts.
The skatepark is open from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. However, it is significant to check the opening times of Tredegar Park itself, as the gates close at dusk. When the park gates are closed, vehicles cannot enter or leave, but visitors can still access the skatepark on foot until 9:00 pm.
Participants use the skatepark at their own risk, and visitors are advised to exercise caution and follow all safety guidelines while using the park. It is also recommended to contact Newport City Council for any further information or inquiries about the skatepark.
