Michael, the organiser of Tusk Yoga Studio, wanted to reach out to the sports community with a personal note about the space he has created in Wellington's CBD. His goal is to provide a peaceful escape from the daily grind, helping people find balance in their lives through yoga.
At Tusk Yoga Studio, classes are designed to re-energise, re-centre, and rebalance the body. Each session lasts for either 45 or 60 minutes. The studio's skilled and experienced teachers, who have been a team for many years, understand the needs of their busy Central City clients and have tailored their classes accordingly. The types of yoga offered include Vinyasa, Yin, and Ashtanga (both Mysore Style and LED).
The schedule is convenient, featuring two 45-minute lunchtime classes and longer 75-minute evening sessions every day. For those who prefer mornings, traditional Mysore Ashtanga classes with personalised adjustments are available on Saturdays. The studios aim is to offer accessible yoga in a calm and beautiful setting, adorned with images of New Zealand’s native bush.
Vinyasa classes are a dynamic and creative form of yoga where movements are linked with the breath in a flowing sequence. Each session varies in pace and intensity, ensuring that no two classes are the same. These classes end with a savasana, a resting pose that promotes deep relaxation.
For a more reflective practise, Yin yoga is available. This form focuses on stretching and lengthening the connective tissues around the joints. Poses are held for 3–5 minutes, which helps to access deeper layers of fascia. This practise replenishes and re-energises the body’s tissues, enhancing overall strength and vitality.
Michael also mentions that there are various membership options to suit different needs. Details on pricing and memberships can be found on the Tusk Yoga Studio website or by contacting the team directly.
Michael invites everyone to visit Tusk Yoga Studio on Level 5, 23 Waring-Taylor Street and experience a yoga session that will leave you feeling energised and centred, ready to tackle the rest of your day.
