Two lakes await anglers at Twin Lakes Fishery in Bedford, offering a tranquil and well-stocked fishing experience. Located between the A6 and A421 in central/north Bedford, Twin Lakes Fishery is the newest fishery in the area, offering a convenient and accessible location for fishing enthusiasts.
The fishery is the brainchild of Andy Thomas, who wanted to create a place where he and his twin sons, Jack and Sam, could enjoy fishing. With the help of family and friends, Andy has built a haven for both pleasure anglers and match fishermen, with careful consideration given to every detail.
Twin Lakes Fishery comprises two lakes: Jack's Lake and Sam's Lake. Jack's Lake, spanning one acre, features two islands and 30 well-spaced fishing pegs, each 9 metres apart. Meanwhile, Sam's Lake covers half an acre and boasts one island and 18 fishing pegs. Each peg is equipped with a concrete hardstanding platform, ensuring comfort during your fishing session.
Both lakes are fully stocked with a variety of fish, including carp, tench, barbel, bream, and chub, thanks to the help and knowledge of Steve from White Water Fisheries. The lakes are surrounded by otter fencing, providing a safe and secure environment for both anglers and fish alike.
Visitors to Twin Lakes Fishery will find convenient amenities on-site. The car park, secured by entry gates, is located near the lakes, eliminating the need to haul fishing equipment over long distances. Additionally, the fishery provides toilets for anglers' convenience.
Despite being a newly established fishery, Twin Lakes Fishery benefits from the majestic backdrop of mature trees, adding to the serenity of the fishing experience. The surrounding area is also teeming with wildlife, including Chinese water deer, munjac deer, foxes, woodpeckers, red kites, and a variety of other bird species.
To ensure a peaceful and well-organised fishing experience, Twin Lakes Fishery operates strictly by appointment only. Anglers are required to book a fishing peg at least 24 hours in advance by calling or texting 07384447700. This system helps to maintain the tranquilly and ensure a pleasurable fishing experience.
As with any fishery, there are rules in place to protect the welfare of the fish and ensure all anglers can enjoy their day. At Twin Lakes Fishery, anglers are requested to use the fishery's landing and keep nets exclusively, along with the designated unhooking mats and landing nets. Anglers should refrain from using braided lines or hook lengths and are reminded that keepnets are only permitted for use during matches.
For anglers interested in joining matches, Twin Lakes Fishery hosts the popular Fish Off competition, organised by the Bedfordshire Match Group. This commercial match fishing competition offers anglers the opportunity to compete for a place in the Grand Final and a share of the county's biggest prize fund. The competition consists of 20 qualifying opens between March and August, with each winner securing a place in the September Grand Final. Anglers can also participate in the Fish Off League, which ranks all participants based on their three best results from any qualifying opens, presenting further chances for anglers to progress to the Grand Final.
Whether you're a pleasure angler seeking a peaceful day on the water or a match fisherman looking for friendly competition, Twin Lakes Fishery in Bedford offers the perfect setting. With its convenient location, well-stocked lakes, and attention to detail, Twin Lakes Fishery promises an enjoyable fishing experience for all.
