AUF Spearfishing, the Fishing club in Camden Haven, is excited to promote a local Fishing event that is sure to interest players of all skill levels. But we're not talking about your typical Fishing event here. We're talking about Underwater Hockey, a fast and dynamic sport that is played in over 20 countries!
Picture this: a 25m × 15m pool, with a depth ranging from 1.8 to 3m. Two teams, each with 12 players, battle it out underwater. Six players are in the pool, while four interchange players eagerly wait on the side. And let's not forget about the gear. The players don large fins, a diving mask and snorkel, and a thick latex glove to protect their hands. Oh, and did we mention the bats? These wooden bats, about 25 cm long, are used to flick a lead puck that weighs a hefty 1.5 kg, coated with plastic for smooth gliding.
So, how does the game start? Both teams dive in, racing to gain possession of the puck in the middle of the pool. From there, the goal is simple: pass the puck through the goal volume at the end of the playing area to score a goal. And here's the best part – no contact is allowed, and there's no offside rule. It's a game of skill, strategy, and teamwork.
But the fun doesn't stop at the local level. Underwater Hockey offers a range of competitions, from club level all the way up to National and World titles. There are various age categories, ensuring that everyone can get in on the action. Tournaments are held regularly, providing opportunities for players to showcase their abilities and compete with fellow underwater enthusiasts.
So, if you're looking for a thrilling and unique Fishing event, look no further. AUF Spearfishing is proud to invite you to join us for an exciting game of Underwater Hockey. Whether you're an experienced player or diving into this sport for the first time, it's sure to be a memorable experience. Lace up those fins, grab your bats, and get ready to dive into the underwater world of competitive Hockey!
