The history of Taekwon-Do can be traced back to the Buddhist monk, Bodhidharma, who introduced a form of mental and physical conditioning to Shaolin Temple monks in China during the 5th century. As Buddhism spread to other Asian countries, including Korea, the fighting styles evolved and developed further. Korean fighting styles have their roots in the three major Kingdoms of Korea: Silla, Koguryo, and Baek Je.
