Vision Dance Academy is a well-established and reputable dance school located in Foxbar, Paisley. The academy offers technical dance training in a professional but fun environment to children of all ages and abilities. Their main goal is to build confidence in dance while improving techniques and stage presence.
The dance school offers a variety of classes including Classical Ballet, Tap, Commercial, Contemporary, and Jazz. Whether a student is a complete beginner or an experienced dancer, Vision Dance Academy welcomes new pupils all year round. The coaches are dedicated and passionate professionals who are members of the BATD (British Association of Teachers of Dancing) and the PVG Disclosure Scheme.
Head coaches Kay Meehan and Becky Hardie, who are both ABATD qualified in Freestyle and Tap, are the joint founders of Vision Dance Academy. They work in partnership to ensure the smooth operation of the dance school. Their commitment to providing high-quality technical dance training is evident in their own experiences, such as performing in major productions at prestigious theatres like the Royal Albert Hall and Her Majesty's Theatre London. In 2013, they were selected as Faces of the Future finalists in the Pavilion Theatre Glasgow.
Assistant coach Jasmin Williamson is a professional dancer with experience in Performing Arts, Jazz, and Contemporary. She is highly skilled and passionate about dance, making her great at supporting and mentoring the children.
Vision Dance Academy also offers a wide range of uniform and merchandise. Pupils are required to have a black or green Vision t-shirt and their own plain or branded black leggings or joggers. All other clothing items and merchandise are optional but available for purchase through their uniform supplier, Gemsprint.
The dance school operates during specific hours, with classes held on Wednesdays from 5:00 PM to 7:45 PM and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Vision Dance Academy is located at the Foxbar Community Centre on Amochrie Road in Paisley.
For new pupils, there is a grace period of 4–6 weeks where they can wear comfortable clothes like joggers and a t-shirt, along with trainers, until they have purchased the official class uniform. This consists of a black Vision DA t-shirt and Vision DA leggings, though pupils can wear their own plain black leggings as well. The academy also offers hoodies and varsity jackets as part of their uniform options, all of which can be found on the Gemsprint website.
Additionally, after the 4-6 week grace period, all pupils must have the appropriate dance shoes for their specific classes. This includes pink leather or material ballet shoes for ballet, black tap shoes for tap dancing, and black jazz shoes for commercial, jazz, and hip hop classes. For contemporary dancing, shoes are not required as dancers are trained in bare feet.
Vision Dance Academy emphasises the need for dancers to attend class with their hair tied up and away from their faces, ensuring a distraction-free environment for learning and practising.
