VRDL - The Factory is a roller skating rink located in Preston, Melbourne, Victoria. Situated in a rustic old factory that has been transformed into a derby venue, this unique space serves as both a training facility and a venue for roller derby games. Conveniently located near the Preston Train Station, VRDL – The Factory is easily accessible for both members and visitors.
Founded in Melbourne in 2007, Victorian Roller Derby League (VRDL) is a member-owned, not-for-profit community association dedicated to promoting and advancing the sport of flat track roller derby. VRDL consists of multiple teams that compete in interleague competitions within Australia and internationally. In fact, in November 2017, VRDL made history by becoming the first non-American team to win the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) Championships. Currently ranked 2nd in the WFTDA, VRDL continues to make waves in the roller derby world.
Roller derby is a full-contact sport played on roller skates. Each team aims to help their designated skater, known as the Jammer, lap around the track while blockers from the opposing team try to impede their progress. Points are awarded based on the Jammers' successful laps, and the team with the most points at the end of the bout emerges victorious.
VRDL has worked diligently to cultivate a culture of inclusivity and safety within the roller derby community. Over the past two years, the organisation has revamped their constitution and policies with a focus on anti-exclusion, diversity, and safety. These updated policies are openly available for public viewing, with the aim of assisting other clubs in developing their own inclusive policies. VRDL aims to create a space where individuals of all backgrounds and identities can join and contribute to the league's culture and values.

Frequently Asked Questions
We offer Skate Fit for adults (16+) to learn to skate, Learn to Derby for adults (16+) to learn to play roller derby, and Juniors for children (8-16) to learn to skate and play roller derby.
Skate Fit runs on Monday and Wednesday from 6:30pm to 8:00pm and is beginner friendly for adults (16+).
VRDL welcomes anyone with a passion for skating or sports, with opportunities to skate, play Roller Derby, or officiate, and you can come along as a visitor.
