The Waitkere BMX Club, located at 103 Glen Road, Ranui, Auckland, is a vibrant and inclusive volunteer-run sporting group that provides a fantastic environment for riders of all ages and abilities. With a strong emphasis on fun and friendly competition, the club aims to make BMX racing accessible to everyone.
The club holds its club nights on Friday nights, starting from late September or early October and running through till the end of April each year. Please note that BMX racing is a seasonal sport and does not take place during the winter months. However, the club may offer gate sessions on weekends, weather permitting, and updates for these events will be shared on their Facebook page.
When visiting the Waitkere BMX Club, it is important to ensure that the track is dry and firm before riding. Wet or soft surfaces can cause damage, so riders are advised to avoid riding in such conditions. If you're looking to try out BMX racing, all you need is a bike in good working condition, a full-face helmet, long pants, long sleeves, and gloves. Club nights also provide the opportunity to hire helmets and bikes for those who want to give the sport a go before purchasing their own equipment.
In fact, the club generously offers the first three club nights for free, allowing newcomers to experience the thrill of BMX racing without any financial commitment.
To stay updated on events, races, gate sessions, or weather-related cancellations, be sure to regularly check the club's website and Facebook page. Any additional questions or inquiries about BMX can be directed to the club's email address or by contacting the President at 022 099 7466.
The Waitkere BMX Club is grateful for the support of its sponsors, and their contributions make it possible for the club to continue offering an exceptional experience for riders and enthusiasts alike.
For those interested in obtaining a customised race plate, the process is straightforward. Simply email the club with three number options between 50 and 1000, along with the following information: the class you race in (20-inch or Cruiser), the plate design (Classic, Lines, or Tyre Tread), and the name you would like to appear on your plate. The club will confirm the availability of your preferred number and allocate it to you on the club's database. Once payment has been received, the club will process your order.
It's important to note that numbers 1-50 are protected for National rankings, and riders must adhere to the correct colour combinations indicated by BMXNZ when ordering plates.
Waitkere BMX Club members can order number plates by completing the order form on the website. Each plate costs $40, and payment can be made via direct deposit into the club's account. Please ensure that you include your details in the reference field to ensure a smooth transaction.
