Hello Sports Community,
Jamie, the organiser at Wallingford Rowing Club, has a special message for everyone. Based right here in Wallingford, on the longest uninterrupted stretch of the Upper Thames, the club is proud to offer 16 kilometres of stunning waterway for rowing. With over 250 dedicated members, the club is all about camaraderie and teamwork.
Jamie wants to highlight the club’s impressive fleet of boats, catering to all skill levels. Beginners and experienced rowers alike will find the perfect boat here. Besides the boats, there's a state-of-the-art gym with all the essential equipment for your training needs.
Three Directors of Rowing provide stellar guidance and support. Keith Settle looks after the seniors and masters, while Katie Greves and Andy Green lead the juniors. These seasoned coaches are committed to helping you reach your personal best. For those who prefer a more relaxed approach, the club also has a vibrant squad of recreational rowers.
After a vigorous session on the water, unwind at the club’s bar, which offers lovely views of the river.
For those keen to start rowing, Jamie shares that the club's Learn to Row courses for juniors are open for Summer 2023 applications. It’s a great opportunity for young rowers to pick up essential skills in a safe environment.
The club is also known for hosting significant events like the Wallingford Regatta and Wallingford Sculls, attracting rowers from all over the region. These events underline the club’s commitment to promoting rowing and providing competitive opportunities. Additionally, the Wallingford Head is a notable event that challenges rowers' endurance and skill.
The energy and spirit of Wallingford Rowing Club was palpable at the annual Club Dinner & Awards. With over 110 members attending, the evening featured a delicious meal, engaging speeches, a raffle, and some Scottish country dancing. Liberty Barlow and Chris Boyles were recognised as the Senior Woman and Senior Man for 2023, showcasing the talent and hard work within the club.
To stay updated, Jamie encourages everyone to follow Wallingford Rowing Club on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Regular updates on events, news, and member achievements keep the community connected.
Whether you're an experienced rower or just starting, Wallingford Rowing Club offers a welcoming environment for all. Jamie invites you to join and be a part of the #WeAreWallingford community.
Best regards,
Jamie and the Wallingford Rowing Club Team
