Welcome to Waltham Forest Hockey Club, a sociable and family-friendly field hockey club located in North East London. Established in 1989, our club is dedicated to promoting inclusivity and providing a welcoming environment for players of all ages and abilities.
Our club is based at Walthamstow Academy School, with our top-tier teams training and competing on the Olympic pitch at Lee Valley Hockey & Tennis Centre. This state-of-the-art facility offers an excellent playing surface and a vibrant atmosphere for both players and spectators.
With five men's teams, four women's teams, a mixed team, a large youth section, and Forest Flyerz, our club caters to a wide range of players. Forest Flyerz is the nation's leading disability hockey programme, designed for individuals with learning or physical disabilities. We are proud to offer inclusive opportunities for every member of the community.
Whether you are a seasoned pro or a complete beginner, we have a place for you at Waltham Forest Hockey Club. Our Saturday league teams compete in the East Leagues at different levels, ensuring that there is a suitable level of competition for every player. Additionally, we run free Adult Beginners Courses (ABCs) every summer, providing newcomers with the opportunity to learn and develop their skills in a supportive environment.
Our club badge represents the rich history of the club. Designed and hand-drawn by former Wanstead HC player Paul Lidbury, it combines elements from the coat of arms of the Borough of Waltham Forest and the colours of our predecessor, West Essex HC. The badge has evolved over the years, reflecting the transition from grass pitches to AstroTurf and the change from wooden hockey sticks to composite materials.
