About
Ski resort, Wapiti Nordic Ski Club, offers a leading skiing experience in Grande Prairie. Founded in 1979, the club is nestled in the beautiful Wapiti corridor region and has become a treasured destination for winter sports enthusiasts. Following the 1995 Canada Winter Games, the club received significant upgrades including a new lodge, parking lots, timing towers, stadiums, a biathlon range, and an expanded trail system.
As the club's facilities continued to evolve, new additions such as a maintenance building, trail lights, and the Weyerhauser Forest Trails further enhanced the skiing experience for visitors. Today, Wapiti Nordic Ski Club boasts over 700 members, a 12-person volunteer Executive Committee, two dedicated employees, and a large network of volunteers who help maintain the club's operations.
The success of Wapiti Nordic Ski Club is due in part to the support of community sponsors, grants from municipalities, and contributions from the private sector. This generous support has enabled the club to provide a top-notch skiing experience for members and guests alike. The club offers a range of services including memberships, day passes, rentals, adult lessons, and opportunities for volunteer involvement.
Whether you are a seasoned skier or a beginner looking to learn, Wapiti Nordic Ski Club has something to offer everyone. With well-groomed trails, stunning natural surroundings, and a welcoming atmosphere, this ski resort is the perfect place to enjoy winter in Grande Prairie.
