Established in 1977, Warsash Wasps Sports and Football Club (Wasps) is a thriving football club based in Southampton, New Zealand. The primary objective of the club is to provide local children with an opportunity to develop their football skills to their fullest potential. With a strong emphasis on community engagement, Wasps has become one of the largest football clubs in Hampshire, boasting a total of almost 370 players and over 60 dedicated volunteers.
The club caters to players of all ages, ranging from mini to adult. It currently fields 21 teams, including 4 girls teams, 16 boys teams, and an adult men's team. These teams compete in 6 different leagues, both on Saturdays and Sundays, showcasing the club's commitment to promoting football at various levels.
One of the standout features of Wasps is its Saturday Morning Development Squad, which has attracted over 60 children from Year R, Year 1, and Year 2. This programme is designed to instil a love for the sport from a young age and provide a solid foundation for future success.
In addition to regular league fixtures, Warsash Wasps hosts popular Summer 6-a-side tournaments, providing players with exciting competitive opportunities during the off-season. It encourages coaches and managers to pursue UEFA Coaching Courses, resulting in many highly qualified coaches within the club. This dedication to excellence has allowed the club to achieve F. A Charter Standard status, placing it among the top development clubs in the region.
