Welcome to Warwickshire Dance Academy (WDA), also known as WDA, a reputable dance school located in Solihull, Warwickshire. Established in 2003, WDA offers a wide range of classes in Knowle, Stratford-upon-Avon, Bidford on Avon, and Hatton, catering to over 300 pupils each week.
At WDA, the primary aim is to provide enjoyable dance lessons that not only serve as a form of exercise but also offer numerous benefits such as developing coordination, rhythm, fitness, muscle tone, expression, and confidence. While dance examinations are available, they are not compulsory, and it is worth noting that WDA boasts a 100% examination success rate thus far. In addition to exams, students also have the opportunity to participate in competitions, festivals, and local shows. Furthermore, all students are given the chance to showcase their skills in various West End Theatres and even the heart of Disneyland Paris, experiencing the magic of Disney firsthand.
The dance styles offered at WDA include Ballet, Tap, Street, Cheerleading, Festival, Acro, and Technique & Strength. Each style is taught by experienced and qualified instructors following the syllabus set by the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA). The IDTA syllabus, which has been influential in the dance industry since 1903, places a strong emphasis on technique and musical interpretation. Students of all ages can partake in dance examinations, starting from earning rosettes as beginner dancers and progressing to Intermediate and Advanced levels.
Ballet, a timeless and elegant dance form, is suitable for boys and girls aged 3 and above. Ballet classes at WDA focus on technique, strength, and flexibility. They not only improve posture, alignment, and concentration, but also instil a sense of discipline in participants. WDA offers ballet classes from preschool to Advanced 1 level, catering to students at various skill levels.
Festival, a unique fusion of lyrical dance, modern dance, and ballet technique, is a slow and emotive form of dance that emphasises storytelling. Children who participate in festival classes learn how to spin, kick, balance, leap, work in partners, and explore the basics of choreography.
Strength & Technique classes are designed for ballet students at Grade 1 and above. These classes focus on enhancing ballet technique while improving strength and flexibility. Ideal for students passionate about ballet who wish to elevate their skill level, this class provides the tools to take their dance abilities to the next level.
Tap, a fun and lively dance style, involves creating rhythmic sounds with the feet. Tap classes at WDA offer an enjoyable way to develop musicality, coordination, and rhythm, allowing students to express themselves creatively through movement.
WDA is proud to offer a nurturing and inclusive environment that encourages students to grow as dancers while fostering a sense of community. The dedicated instructors work diligently to ensure the safety and well-being of all students, especially during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Regular deep cleaning measures are implemented, and attendance is closely monitored for contact tracing purposes. Should a class need to self-isolate, WDA is prepared to continue classes remotely via zoom.
