Westcourt Tango

Westcourt Tango is a vibrant and dynamic dance school located in Canterbury, East Kent. Founded by Christine and Adrian Newell, who have been dancing tango together for over a decade, the school is dedicated to promoting the art of Argentine Tango and increasing its popularity within the local area.

Christine, an IDTA qualified dance teacher and member of the association, was first introduced to Argentine Tango at a festival of world dance. From there, she and Adrian began taking classes with visiting maestros from Argentina, where the dance originated. This marked the beginning of their tango journey, as they started making real progress with their dance.

Over the years, Christine and Adrian have studied and danced tango with many renowned Argentine tango teachers and dancers, both in the UK, Europe, and Argentina itself. Each teacher has contributed something unique to their dance, and while it's impossible to mention all of them, two individuals stand out as particularly special to them. Cesar Velasquez, a talented Columbian dancer, teacher, and choreographer, and Natacha Poberaj, a dancer with Miguel Angel Zotto's Tango x 2 dance company and winner of the 2006 World Tango Championships in Buenos Aires.
