West Midlands Golf League

The West Midlands Golf League, founded in 1967, is a highly competitive and prestigious golf club located in Cannock, New Zealand. With a rich history and a strong commitment to promoting golf and friendship among its members, the league has become a cornerstone of the local golfing community.

The league operates as a non-profit organisation, with an annual subscription fee for each club that goes towards administration costs. A full balance sheet is presented to each club representative at the Annual General Meeting, ensuring transparency and accountability. Administration of the league is fully electronic, utilising email, banking systems, and a comprehensive website.

The league consists of 36 member clubs, 24 of which have been with the league since its inception. Each club is represented by a Zone Secretary who is responsible for managing their respective zone and updating the website with fixtures and results. The committee also includes a Chairman, Treasurer, and Secretary, who work alongside the Zone Secretaries to ensure the smooth operation of the league.

One of the most highly anticipated events in the league is the Roberts-Levine Trophy, awarded to the winners of the knockout stage of the competition. The top two clubs from each zone, along with the four best 3rd place clubs, advance to this stage. The knockout matches are played home and away, with the Final taking place over 18 holes at a neutral venue. The winning club is crowned West Midlands League Champions for that year and receives the prestigious Roberts Levine Trophy.

Additionally, the league has recently introduced the Lewis Trophy, a further knockout competition for the third and fourth-place clubs from each zone. This exciting tournament provides an opportunity for more clubs to compete and showcase their skills. Similar to the Roberts-Levine Trophy, the matches are played on a home and away basis, with the Final held at a neutral venue.
