

Competition are awarded the Lewis Trophy. The Davenports Salver The Davenports Salver is a separate competition held annually at different golf courses within the West Midlands region. It is a better ball competition, with teams of two players representing their respective clubs. The winners of the Davenports Salver are determined by the best better ball scores.
The South Staffordshire Club won the 2023 Davenports Salver.
The West Midlands Golf League was founded in 1967 and initially comprised 24 clubs. Over time, 12 additional clubs were invited to join, bringing the total membership to 36 clubs. The league aims to promote golf and foster friendship among members of golf clubs in the West Midlands and surrounding areas through competitive handicap golf.
Administered by a dedicated committee, the league operates on a non-profit basis. Each club pays an annual subscription fee, which is used to cover administration costs. The league's administration is fully electronic, utilising email, a banking system, and a website to communicate with members. Each zone within the league is administered by a Zone Secretary, who updates the website with fixtures and results as necessary.
The top two clubs from each zone, along with the four best third-placed clubs, advance to the knockout stage of the Roberts-Levine Trophy. Knockout matches are played on a home and away basis, with the final taking place at a neutral venue. The victorious club is crowned the West Midlands League Champions for that year and is awarded the prestigious Roberts Levine Trophy.
The league also introduced the Lewis Trophy, a knockout competition that includes the two clubs finishing third in each zone and the clubs finishing fourth in each zone. Similar to the Roberts-Levine Trophy, knockout matches are played on a home and away basis, with the final being held at a neutral venue. The winners of the Lewis Trophy are presented with the trophy.
Additionally, the league organises the Davenports Salver, an annual better ball competition held at various golf courses in the West Midlands region. Teams of two players from each club compete, and the winners are determined by the best better ball scores. The South Staffordshire Club emerged as the winners of the 2023 Davenports Salver, with Halesowen securing second place.
