West Park in Macclesfield, Cheshire East is a prime spot for sports players looking for a mix of action and relaxation. Tim, the organiser, has tailored a bunch of activities to keep everyone engaged.
The park opens daily at 8am with seasonal closing times: 7:30pm in April, 8pm in May, 8:30pm from June to August, then winding down to 7pm in September, and 6pm from October to March.
One standout feature is the Green Spaces for Wellbeing programme. It's specially for adults 18 and over, focusing on nature-based activities to boost mental health and support those with long-term conditions. Tim’s got you covered whether you’re looking to unwind or get active.
Families will love the children’s playground and toddler area. Bowling fans can book the bowling green—just drop Tim an email. History buffs can check out the on-site museum for a deeper dive into the park's past.
For a chilled day, stroll through the ornamental gardens or hit the picnic area. Bring your BBQ gear but make sure to use the designated spots and bin your rubbish properly. Skateboarders can also showcase their tricks in the skate area.
Conveniently, toilet facilities are open Monday to Thursday from 8am to 3pm and on Fridays until 2:30pm, closed on weekends and bank holidays.
West Park’s main entrance is on Prestbury Road with plenty of parking. Established in 1854, it spans 15.3 acres and features historical pre-Norman cross shafts.
Looking ahead, Tim encourages everyone to check out the West Park master plan for future enhancements and share their ideas via email.
