Established back in 1990, Edward founded Westpoint in Shrewsbury, with a focus on breeding high-quality competition horses. Over the years, Edward’s expertise has seen him become an approved BEF Young Horse Evaluator.
In 2009, Westpoint Stud relocated to a larger facility on the Shropshire/Powys border, roughly 10 miles from Shrewsbury 📍. This move allowed us to become almost entirely self-sufficient in feedstuffs and bedding, and to expand our services to include embryo transfer and develop our own breeding programme.
Westpoint Stud is a family-run operation with Edward, his wife Caroline, and their dedicated team managing all aspects of the business. The family lives on-site, ensuring top-notch care and comfort for visiting mares and foals. Your horses are in safe hands.
Working closely with Fyrnnwy Equine Clinics, Westpoint offers quality breeding services at competitive prices. Fixed vet packages help you budget accurately, and breeding options are versatile – from our resident stallions to walk-in stallions, and even chilled or frozen semen from trusted contacts across Europe and the UK.
Our breeding programme focuses on producing warmblood horses and ponies suited for dressage, showjumping, and eventing. Edward is hands-on with breaking the homebred youngsters to ensure they are ready for both ambitious amateurs and professionals.
Among our range of services, you'll find artificial insemination, embryo transfer, and semen sourcing. We can provide tailored advice on stallion selection based on conformation, temperament, and performance. Stallion services also include collection and training using a dummy mare, along with chilled and frozen semen delivery throughout the UK.
Our facilities feature an AI/ET laboratory, stallion barn and collection area, secure examination stocks, CCTV, and spacious mare barns, all designed to ensure a safe and comfortable stay for your horses.
