Westside Recreation Centre Skatepark in Calgary is a destination for skateboard enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. The outdoor skatepark features modular features and operates from May to September, weather permitting. Participants are required to wear appropriate footwear and a CSA-certified helmet at all times while in the Skatepark. Only skateboards are allowed in the Skatepark, with scooters, bikes, and inline skates prohibited.
In addition to the Skatepark, Westside Recreation Centre offers a wide range of facilities for visitors to enjoy. The Aquatic Park includes a wave pool, lap pool, tot pool, waterslide, lazy river, hot tub, and steam room. Specific age and height restrictions apply in certain areas, and PFDs are available for use free of charge. The Gymnasiums feature two double gymnasiums and one single youth gymnasium, offering equipment such as basketballs and badminton racquets for borrowing at specific times.
Visitors can also take advantage of the 30,000 ft2 Fitness Centre, which boasts hundreds of cardio and strength options, as well as a 432m running/walking track. Fitness classes are offered in two group fitness studios, a yoga studio, and a Pilates studio. The Leisure Ice Arena is available for ice skating from September to March and inline/roller skating from May to August, with a pond area for younger or beginner skaters. The facility also includes an NHL-sized Hockey Arena, Climbing Wall, and Child Minding services for those who require childcare.
For those interested in hosting events or renting facilities, Westside Recreation Centre offers rental options for the Hockey Arena, Gymnasiums, Climbing Wall, and other areas. Bookings should be made at least one week in advance, and GST will be added where applicable.
