Located at Westward Ho! Beach, a blue-flagged beach with plenty of space, our surf school is the perfect place to learn and improve your surfing skills. The beach offers ideal conditions for learning, with mellow, sandy beach breaks that are suitable for beginners. We are easy to find, just look out for our converted horse box!
At Westward Waves, we offer a variety of surf lessons and courses tailored to your skill level and goals. Our group lessons are suitable for mixed abilities and ages, and include all the necessary equipment. These lessons consist of a 20-minute beach talk, followed by approximately 90 minutes of water time with individual feedback provided by our experienced instructors.
If you prefer a more personalised experience, our private lessons are the best option for you. With private lessons, the entire session is tailored to your specific needs, providing in-depth coaching, detailed wave feedback, and one-on-one assistance to help you catch the best waves. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned surfer, our private surf lessons are designed to maximise your surfing experience.

Our team comprises highly-trained and dedicated instructors who are passionate about surfing. Mark, our head instructor, has been surfing since the age of nine and has travelled all over the world in pursuit of his passion. He started surfing at Westward Ho! Over 15 years ago and has since become a fully qualified RLLSS beach lifeguard and BSA qualified surf coach with his own surf school.
Meagan, another member of our team, is also a qualified RLLSS beach lifeguard and BSA qualified surf coach. She joined Westward Waves in 2020 and brings her expertise and love for surfing to our lessons.
