West Windsor Archers

West Windsor Archers is an active and friendly archery club located in Windsor, Berkshire UK. Established in 1970, the club is one of Berkshire's leading archery clubs and is based at Dedworth Middle School on the outskirts of Windsor. The members of West Windsor Archers come from a diverse range of ages, genders, and abilities, all united by their love for archery.

The club offers a variety of archery disciplines, including recurve, longbow, American flat bow, and barebow. Members have the opportunity to practise and compete in four different disciplines: target, wand, clout, and field archery. The club shoots outdoors at Dedworth Middle School during the spring and summer months, and indoors at Eton-Wick sports hall during the autumn and winter.

Throughout the year, West Windsor Archers hosts informal practise sessions, fun-shoots, and club competitions. The club is actively involved in both local and national competitions, providing members with opportunities to showcase their skills and compete against other archers.

Coaching is an essential aspect of West Windsor Archers, and regular coaching sessions are available for all members. The club boasts experienced and qualified archery coaches who provide guidance and support to help members improve their shooting skills.

During the outdoor season, which runs from the end of March to mid-October, the official club night is on Wednesday. In addition, there are practise nights on Mondays and Fridays, as well as club competitions on Sundays. However, it's important to note that due to the limited overshoot on the outdoor range, compound bows are not accommodated.

During the indoor season, which takes place from November to March, the club shoots on Wednesday and Friday evenings at Eton Wick sports hall. Weather permitting, members also have the opportunity to shoot outdoors on Sundays for chilly Frostbite rounds at Dedworth Middle School. The club even organises an outdoor “Soup Shoot” on New Year's morning.

West Windsor Archers truly embodies the saying that archers are a hardy bunch, as they continue to shoot throughout the year despite challenging weather conditions such as rain, wind, sleet, snow, and occasionally even sunshine.
