Alan Parrish wants to reach out to the sports community to let you know about Westwood Karate Academy, conveniently located on London Road, Rayleigh. Since its founding by Alan and Carol in 1993, the academy has been all about delivering top-notch shotokan karate training to people of all ages.

You can join classes at any of their six local dojos - from their main dojo on London Road to spots in Canvey, Hockley/Hawkwell, Westcliff, and Rayleigh Megacentre. This variety means you can pick a location that works best for you.

Westwood Karate Academy offers classes for everyone, starting from kids as young as 4 right up to adults. Whether you're after a way to boost your social life, mental and physical health, want a family-friendly activity, or aim to excel in karate as a sport, Alan's academy covers it all.

The instructors are seasoned pros, passionate about teaching. Alan started his karate journey in 1974, trained under Japanese masters Keinosuke Enoeda and Masao Kawasoe, and has represented the UK in numerous international comps. He reached 6th dan with the World Traditional Karate Organisation back in 2015.

Carol Parrish, who began her training in 1988, is another top-tier instructor. She's achieved the rank of 4th dan and boasts a solid competition record, including a gold at the 2001 WTKO World Championships in New York. Carol is a senior instructor with Traditional Shotokan Karate U and teaches regularly on TSKUK courses.

Also on the team is Charlie Tarr, a 4th dan and a member of the TSKUK Squad. Charlie's been with Westwood since he was 6 and has done pretty well in comps, including a win at the 2016 WTKO European Championships.

With such experienced and committed instructors, Alan ensures that every student at Westwood Karate Academy gets first-rate guidance throughout their karate journey.
