Road. Continue on Old Boston Road for about 0. 2 miles, and you will find Wetherby Bowling Club on your right-hand side. The club is conveniently located on the border between North Yorkshire and West Yorkshire, making it easily accessible from Harrogate, Leeds, and York.
If you're coming from further away, the club can be reached via the A1M J45.
Wetherby Bowling Club prides itself on being unique in the Yorkshire region, offering both a lawn (flat) green and a crown green side-by-side. This distinction sets the club apart, as lawn bowls is played in lanes or rinks, as demonstrated at the Commonwealth Games, while crown green is played over the entire green and is exclusive to the north of England, the north Midlands, and north Wales. The crown green is equipped with floodlights, allowing evening matches to be played well into autumn.
The club hosts an annual Autumn Mini-League, which attracts players from across the district. This league is played on the crown green and takes place on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings throughout the autumn. Even if you're not participating, spectators are welcome to come and watch the games. Wetherby Bowling Club also participates in various local leagues within Yorkshire, catering to players of different skill levels and interests.
In addition to competitive bowling, Wetherby Bowling Club offers social bowling for those who prefer a more relaxed game. Whether you're a novice or an experienced bowler, the club provides a friendly and inclusive environment for all. The club's greens are open from the beginning of April until the end of November, providing ample opportunity for members to enjoy the sport.
The club is grateful for the support of its sponsors, including Hunters Estate Agents and Letting Agents, Wetherby Green Oval Garage, The Bridge Hotel and Spa, and G. E. Hartley & Son, Ltd. Wetherby Bowling Club is also proudly associated with Bowls England, the national association for lawn green bowls, the British Crown Green Bowling Association, and Wetherby in Support of the Elderly.
If you're interested in trying bowls, Wetherby Bowling Club offers free introductory sessions every Sunday between April and the end of November from 2-4 p. m.
