The Club, surrounded by the moors of Heapey and Rivington, offers players a stunning natural backdrop and an immersive countryside experience. Notably, a creek runs down the hill nearby and the pitch itself is encircled by steep-sided hills.
Since its establishment in 1875, White Coppice Cricket Club, led by a dedicated committee, has faced and overcome numerous challenges. The 2017 season was particularly tough, marked by a 33-game losing streak, a fractured second team, and a near-depleted roster. The Club even had to field non-cricketers to keep the game alive.
By 2018, through sheer determination, Joe and his team managed to field a full side, signalling a new chapter for the Club. Commitment to inclusivity saw the introduction of a Ladies Softball Cricket tournament in 2019, offering women of all ages the chance to enjoy cricket in a fun and accessible way.
The Club's engagement with the local community is evident through events like the annual Sportsman's Dinner. Featuring guest speakers such as former footballer and boxer Curtis Woodhouse, this event draws a large gathering and inspires with captivating stories.
