Wild Apple Yoga, located in Northwich, Cheshire, is a yoga studio dedicated to bringing peace, balance, and mindfulness to its students. Led by Kelly, a passionate and experienced yoga instructor, Wild Apple Yoga offers a variety of classes that cater to individuals of all levels of experience and abilities.
Kelly's teaching style focuses on gentle asana (movement) classes, incorporating the use of props to provide different ways of experiencing various movements and postures. With a strong emphasis on breath awareness, meditation, and yoga philosophy, Kelly aims to support her students in their everyday lives by helping them reconnect to themselves and everything around them. By organising the body in a way that promotes balance within the nervous system, students are able to find restoration for both their bodies and minds.
With a solid foundation in yoga, Kelly has practised for 10 years and underwent 18 months of training to become a certified yoga teacher. Committed to her continued growth and development in the field, she actively participates in workshops, training programmes, and webinars that explore topics such as restorative, slow, and subtle yoga, as well as the science, physiology, neuroscience, and history of yoga. Additionally, she has a strong interest in inclusivity and accessibility in yoga, making sure that her classes are open and welcoming to everyone.
Kelly's journey in yoga began with Iyengar yoga, a style that focuses on holding specific shapes for an extended period of time, with an emphasis on physical alignment. While she practised Iyengar yoga for many years, her perspective shifted after her training, leading her to believe that the focus of yoga should be on internal alignment and cultivating equanimity. However, she did carry over the love and use of props from her Iyengar practise, incorporating them into her teaching.
Outside the yoga studio, Kelly enjoys spending time in nature, exploring with loved ones, cooking, creating, and learning. She believes that yoga has provided her with numerous tools that she loves to share and incorporate into her classes, supporting movement not only on the mat but also off the mat in everyday life.
For those interested in joining the Wild Apple Yoga community, Kelly offers a variety of classes. In addition, she also hosts mini morning retreats called The Slow Space. These retreats provide a tranquil and serene environment for participants to embrace the beauty of slowness. Each retreat includes gentle, restorative yoga, a crystal bowl sound bath during the extended Savasana relaxation, time for reflection and slowing down, and the opportunity to enjoy brews and homemade baked goods.
The benefits of slower practises, particularly for the nervous system, are numerous in our fast-paced lives. By participating in The Slow Space and incorporating elements of slowness into their days, participants can expect to find support and tranquilly to counterbalance the quickness and chaos of everyday life.
