Willaston FC is a long-established club with a rich history, having been founded in 1904. The club prides itself on its close ties with the local community and its commitment to providing football opportunities for players of all ages and abilities. Currently, the club has twelve teams ranging from youth to adult levels.
In addition to their competitive teams, Willaston FC has recently established the Willaston Wildcats team. This team offers non-competitive football for girls up to 18 years of age, aiming to provide a nurturing and inclusive environment for their development.
The club has a clear philosophy of prioritising the holistic development of their players, focusing on both technical skills and behavioural qualities such as teamwork. Willaston FC believes that by emphasising these aspects, results will naturally follow.
In the 2021/22 season, all teams within the club performed well, with several teams earning promotions and the Willaston Ladies winning their league in only their second season. This success highlights the dedication and talent present within the club.
Looking towards the future, Willaston FC has ambitious plans for growth and improvement. They have identified two key capital projects in progress. The first project involves landscaping, drainage, and seeding to bring back pitch 4 into use. Additionally, this project will create a small area of wildflowers at the top of pitch 2, contributing to the natural beauty of the grounds.
The second project involves the refurbishment of the pavilion, in collaboration with the Tennis Club and the Willaston Residents Association. This refurbishment aims to bring the showers and changing rooms back into use, provide additional storage for the football club, and offer additional facilities for other users of the recreation ground. To accomplish these projects, the club seeks further funding and grants, and donations are welcomed.
Willaston FC is more than just a football club; it is a tight-knit community that values inclusivity, development, and success both on and off the field. Whether you're a player, supporter, or sponsor, the club welcomes all to be a part of their journey.
