Welcome to Winscombe Cricket Club, a historic club that has been playing cricket in the picturesque village of Winscombe, Somerset for over 138 years. With the scenic Mendip hills as its backdrop, the club provides a beautiful setting to enjoy the sport.
Winscombe Cricket Club fields two Saturday teams in the Somerset Cricket League. The 1st XI competes in the top division, while the 2nd XI plays in division 6 N. Additionally, the club participates in various tournaments, including the Somerset T20 Intermediate cup with the final held at Taunton, as well as the Weston-super-Mare T20 evening league.
The future of Winscombe Cricket Club lies in its thriving youth section, which boasts over 100 boys and girls. Led by qualified coaches and headed by Roger Willmot, the club provides coaching and training in the basics of the game for children between the ages of 5 and 13. Training sessions are held every Wednesday evening from 18:00 19:30. The club has teams for under 11s, 13s, and 15s, and also participates in the u16 Somerset Smash.
The club values its volunteers who work tirelessly to keep the club running smoothly both on and off the field. Additionally, the support received from the Parish council is crucial to the success of the club. Off the field, the club boasts a fantastic clubhouse with two bars and a function room that can accommodate up to 200 people. The clubhouse also features a popular skittle alley that is enjoyed by both social members and sportsmen and women throughout the year.
