Wirral Judo Club, located in Birkenhead, is a well-established martial arts school that offers high-quality judo training to individuals of all ages and abilities. Founded in 2000 with just 14 beginners, the club has grown exponentially with the support of dedicated coaches, enthusiastic parents, and passionate kids, now boasting over 150 members.

The club's state-of-the-art facility features a permanent 18 × 7 metre mat area, providing ample space for students to practise and improve their judo skills. Classes are available for individuals aged 3 and above, including adults looking for a unique and effective way to stay fit. With a total of 15 classes, ranging from total beginners to experienced competitors, there is something to suit everyone's needs and goals.

Wirral Judo Club takes pride in its competitive edge, with several members of the club being part of the England development squad. Through rigorous training and participation in competitions, the club nurtures its members' skills and potential, helping them excel in the sport. The club also organises various events every year, including both judo and non-judo activities, to foster a sense of community and inclusion.

As part of their commitment to continuous learning and growth, the club regularly attends competitions and training events across the country. For more advanced judoka, there are exciting opportunities to travel abroad to countries such as France, Belgium, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and the Netherlands, providing a broader perspective and exposure to different judo techniques and styles.

The club is also home to Chelle's Kitchen, situated right underneath the premises. Chelle's Kitchen is open for business, offering a range of delicious and nutritious food options to fuel both body and mind, complementing the training and activities of the judo club.

Led by a team of experienced and dedicated coaches, Wirral Judo Club ensures that every member receives the best possible guidance and training. Head Coach Chris Soakell, a 3rd Dan Black Belt with over 25 years of coaching experience, holds a level 3 coaching qualification and also teaches judo in local schools. Anne Loughnane, the Deputy Head Coach, is a 2nd Dan Black Belt practitioner with more than 20 years of judo experience and a level 2 coaching certification. Additionally, Don Quinn, a 4th Dan Black Belt holder with nearly 50 years of judo experience, shares his wealth of knowledge and expertise with all judoka.

Joanne Milligan and Lisa Waugh serve as Club Welfare Officers, providing assistance and support to members, parents, and staff.
