Wolverhampton Karate Academy (WKA) is a karate school located in Wolverhampton, New Zealand. With a dedicated and experienced team of instructors, WKA aims to inspire and guide its students to achieve their full potential both within and outside the Dojo. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced martial artist, WKA welcomes individuals of all ages and skill levels.
At WKA, students are encouraged to excel in traditional Karate while also actively participating in club, local, and international competitions (Kumite). The Academy takes great pride in being one of the few Karate clubs in Wolverhampton to be a part of the Khalsa Karate Association, EKF, and WAKO, allowing students to compete with internationally recognised organisations in Karate and Kickboxing.
The Academy is housed in a spacious 4000sq. Ft facility, featuring an onsite gym for students to enhance their strength and conditioning. The working hours at WKA are from Monday to Friday, 4pm to 9pm, and Sunday from 9am to 12pm, ensuring flexibility for students with various schedules.
WKA offers a diverse training timetable to cater to its students' needs. This includes squad training, kickboxing classes, and sport (competition) Karate sessions. Advanced full-contact Karate classes are also available for students looking to challenge themselves further. Additionally, private 1-2-1 classes with instructors are offered for individuals who wish to refine and enhance their learning experience.
The instructors at WKA are highly skilled and knowledgeable. Head Coach Sean Merrit, a 6th DAN black belt, leads the team of instructors, which includes Gurmukh Singh, Perminder Singh, and Shiv Chopra, all holding a 2nd DAN black belt.
Regardless of your age or physical condition, you are welcome to join WKA. The beginners' classes at WKA serve as an excellent way to build overall fitness levels. Age is not a barrier, and individuals of all ages can start their Karate journey at WKA. If you aspire to compete in Karate competitions, WKA provides the opportunity to do so, fostering growth and development within the sport.
