Worcester Wado-Ryu is an authentic Japanese martial arts school located in Worcester, New Zealand. The school specialises in Karate-Do, which is known as “the way of the empty hand,” and practises the style of Wado-Ryu. Led by Mike Sensei, a 3rd Dan black belt, the school is dedicated to providing high-quality instruction to students of all ages, levels, and sizes.
One of the unique aspects of Worcester Wado-Ryu is its small class sizes. By limiting the number of students in each class, the Sensei and senior students are able to provide personalised attention and guidance, allowing students to progress at a faster pace. This approach ensures that everyone gets the most out of each lesson and can further their knowledge and ability in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Worcester Wado-Ryu welcomes new members of all backgrounds and abilities. Whether you are a beginner or have previous martial arts experience, the school is open to everyone. The emphasis is not just on physical fitness and skill development but also on character development. Through the firm training in the tradition of Japanese martial arts, students learn self-defence skills, develop a strong will, and cultivate a positive attitude.
This is the essence of Karate-Do.
Classes are held every Sunday morning at the Nunnery Woods Sports Complex, located at Spetchley Road, Worcester, WR5 2NL. There are separate classes for adults and children, and adults are welcome to stay for the children's class to practise if they wish. The fees for each session are 4. 00 per hour or 6.
50 for a 2-hour session. The first session is free, and family discounts are offered for immediate family members training together.
If you have any questions or would like to attend a free first session, you can leave your details on their website form, and the school will be in touch soon. Join Worcester Wado-Ryu to train, exercise, learn, meet new people, explore tradition, laugh, and support each other in their journey through the authentic Japanese martial art of Karate-Do.
