Helen, the organiser at Worthing Rowing Club, wanted to share a quick note with the sports community about the fantastic activities happening down at the club in lovely Worthing, UK.
Worthing Rowing Club welcomes everyone - whether you’re a seasoned rower or just starting out. Helen ensures the club provides a great environment to develop your rowing skills and simply enjoy the sport.
They have a variety of programmes and events running throughout the year. There are learn to row courses, exciting regattas, and even beach clean-ups. The Learn To Row course is especially designed for adults and includes everything from proper rowing techniques and boat maintenance to rowing on the sea or river in a 4-person boat. Helen says it’s loads of fun and a great way to get stuck in!
Worthing Rowing Club also takes pride in their community efforts, like the regular beach clean-ups they organise. Keeping our beaches clean is something Helen and the club are quite passionate about.
When it comes to rowing competitions, they don’t shy away. One event they’re really proud of is the Women’s Head of River Race (WEHoRR). It's the biggest women's rowing race in the world, and Worthing Rowing Club is thrilled to compete alongside Olympic champions and other top rowers.
Helen also mentioned the annual Worthing Regatta, a highlight for the club. Although they had to cancel the 2023 regatta due to bad weather, they’re already planning ahead for an amazing event in 2024. It promises to be a day filled with thrilling races and festivities.
The sense of community and camaraderie at Worthing Rowing Club is something Helen always highlights. It’s a friendly place where you can make lifelong friends and enjoy the many physical and mental benefits rowing brings.
