Yate Squash Club

Welcome to Yate Squash Club, a thriving social club and team based at Yate Leisure Centre near Bristol. The club's main objective is to promote squash in the local area by organising regular club nights, internal leagues known as boxes, participating in the Bristol & District leagues, and hosting occasional competitions. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced player, Yate Squash Club warmly welcomes new members of all skill levels.

Club Nights are a highlight of the week at Yate Leisure Centre. Every Friday from 5:40PM to 9PM and Sunday from 5PM to 7PM, the club offers discounted squash evenings open to everyone. These sessions are informal and provide a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and enjoy a game. The club boasts a diverse range of players, from beginners to seasoned campaigners, and you'll find fellow members willing to offer help and advice.

To join in, simply mention squash night at the leisure centre reception, pay the reduced rate, and head up to the courts. Don't be surprised if you end up playing some 3/4 court games to ensure everyone gets a chance to participate.

Team Squash is another exciting aspect of Yate Squash Club. The club currently has two teams participating in the Bristol and District League, competing against other local squash clubs. If you're interested in joining the teams, matches are typically held on Wednesday nights, followed by a meal and drinks. It's an excellent opportunity to test your skills against other clubs and enjoy some friendly competition.

Internal leagues, known as Boxes, are an integral part of Yate Squash Club. These leagues run on a monthly basis, and players are responsible for contacting their opponents and arranging matches. Results are posted on the notice board and collected at the end of each month, with promotions and relegations occurring accordingly. It's encouraged for all members to play their matches each month and offer points to their opponent if unable to play.

Boxes provide a platform for players to challenge themselves and improve their game.

To add to the excitement, Yate Squash Club organises a couple of tournaments throughout the year. These tournaments are highly enjoyable and are often followed by a meal, allowing participants to socialise and relax after the games. The format typically includes round-robin matches followed by knockout stages, ensuring that every participant gets a chance to play multiple games.
