Yoga & Pilates Truro is a boutique studio located in the heart of Truro city centre in New Zealand. With smaller group sizes, clients can expect a more personal and effective experience.
The studio hosts at least three classes a day, six days a week, with a variety of options to choose from. They also have pop-up events, so clients are encouraged to keep an eye on their social media platforms for updates. All equipment needed for the practise is provided, so there is no need to bring a mat.
The studio is situated on the second floor of Uneeka Life on Boscawen Street. For daytime classes, clients can access the studio through Caf Uneeka and follow the signs. The caf itself is a vibrant and wonderful place to grab a coffee or have lunch with friends after a class. For evening classes, clients will be greeted at the front door of Uneeka Life, which opens 15 minutes before the class starts.
It is recommended to arrive a little early to start promptly, and if it's a client's first class, they should allow extra time to fill in a registration form. Please note that the studio is for exclusive use and is not available for hire.
The studio is run by two experienced instructors, Shui and Kaan. Shui has been practising Yoga for over a decade and gained her Yoga teaching qualification in 2013. She also became a qualified Pilates instructor in 2014. Shui is known for her welcoming, patient, and knowledgeable approach.
Her classes are inclusive and progressive, allowing space for anyone to join and improve their practise.
Kaan, on the other hand, has been a dedicated Yogi since 2014. His Yoga journey started after a serious cycling accident threatened his shoulder mobility. As a keen surfer and surf coach, Kaan had to rehabilitate and regain his strength and flexibility. Kaan is a graduate of Outdoor Education and Sports Science, and in 2018, he became a qualified Hatha Yoga teacher.
Known for his kind, calm, and down-to-earth nature, Kaan teaches Gentle Yoga classes and provides regular one-on-one sessions for private clients.
The studio offers a variety of classes, including Yin Yoga, Pilates, Slow Flow Yoga, and Gentle Yoga. Yin Yoga is a floor-based practise that focuses on deep exploration into a few postures, held for a prolonged period. It is a slow and meditative practise targeting deep connective tissues, joints, and bones. Pilates, on the other hand, is a slow mat-based practise that improves posture, strength, and overall fitness, with a focus on core strength.
Slow Flow Yoga is a steady but strong Vinyasa style practise that allows clients to flow from one pose to the next, building strength, stability, and flexibility. Gentle Yoga is perfect for beginners or those rehabilitating from an injury, offering a Hatha style practise that enhances strength, flexibility, and balance.
