Yogalinda, based in Ryton, Tyne and Wear, is a well-established and highly experienced Yoga instructor who has been guiding students on their yoga journey for over 32 years. Linda Irving, the founder of Yogalinda, was introduced to yoga by her mother over four decades ago. Her mother, who trained as a yoga teacher herself more than 60 years ago, practised yoga until the age of 86, serving as an inspiration for Linda and many others.
Linda completed her teaching diploma with The British Wheel of Yoga 32 years ago and has been teaching classes in Newcastle and Gateshead ever since. She is also experienced in teaching The British Wheel of Yoga Foundation Courses, with many graduates from the accredited Foundation Course going on to become successful yoga teachers in their own right.
Throughout her career, Linda has trained with numerous renowned teachers and Swamis. She draws inspiration from Sri Swami Satchidananda of Integral Yoga, whom she had the privilege of meeting in the late 1980s and frequently listened to his teachings at her teacher's home, Lashmi Waters. Additionally, Linda studied Dru Yoga with Mansukh Patel and Rita Goswami in 1991, when they reintroduced this style of yoga to the Western world. She also holds a Certificate in Yoga therapy for Low Back Pain after studying under Dr Robin Munro.
Linda's commitment to continuous learning is evident in her training in Counselling and Reiki, as well as her Higher Education Teaching Diploma. She has studied various styles of yoga, including Iyengar, Astanga, and Kundalini, with Swamis and teachers from each discipline. Her passion for yoga extends beyond teaching, as she engages in self-study of yoga spiritual books and incorporates yoga principles into her daily life.
In her classes, Linda focuses on providing a nurturing and inclusive environment for students of all levels. She offers regular weekly beginners and intermediate classes throughout Tyne & Wear, catering to the needs and abilities of each individual. Additionally, she teaches Gentle yoga classes, catering to older adults, and has been conducting a chair yoga class at Throckley Day Centre for over 22 years, where students in their 80s and 90s experience the joy and benefits of yoga.
Linda Irving is a British Wheel of Yoga Diploma holder and a member of the Ifl (Institute for Learning) and REPS (Register of Exercise Professionals). She can be contacted through phone or email to inquire about her classes and services.
