Yogaskies, located in Hereford, is a yoga studio operated by Mike, a highly experienced and qualified yoga instructor. With his vast knowledge and expertise in yoga, as well as Indian astrology, Mike aims to promote health, awareness, and well-being among his clients.
Having obtained his Yoga Teaching qualification in 1992 from the Viniyoga Practitioner course with Paul Harvey, Mike continued his yoga studies under Paul's guidance for another 9 years. During this time, he also had the opportunity to study with TKV Desikachar at the Krishnamacarya Yoga Mandiram in India. This well-rounded training has equipped Mike with a deep understanding and appreciation for the benefits of yoga practise.
Apart from teaching yoga, Mike has also ventured into other areas, including offering individual yoga lessons and practising Indian astrology and palmistry. Fascinated by his experience with Indian astrology during a reading with Hart deFouw in 1995, Mike decided to further his studies in Jyotish, or astrology, and palmistry. This exposure to different practises and philosophies has shaped Mike's teaching approach, making it even more diverse and holistic.
In addition to offering yoga classes, Mike has also taught yoga and meditation in various settings, such as schools, special needs residential care, businesses, and even in prisons for 12 years. This experience has given him valuable insights and adaptability, enabling him to cater to the needs of people from diverse backgrounds.
Furthermore, Mike has completed a Diploma in Counselling, a qualification that enhances his ability to support his students in their yoga journey. He believes that yoga is not limited to physical movements but also encompasses mental well-being.
Based in Herefordshire, Mike lives with his wife, Eve, an artist, and their three children. This enables him to serve and support the local community effectively.
At Yogaskies, Mike offers a variety of yoga classes suitable for individuals of all levels, including beginners and those with prior experience. These classes are conducted in Much Dewchurch at the Steiner School. Spaces are limited, so it is advisable to book in advance to secure a spot. Classes run in line with school terms, with a break for half-term.
For those who cannot attend in-person classes, Mike also conducts online classes on Mondays and Wednesdays using the Zoom platform. These classes are suitable for most individuals who are mobile enough to get up and down from the floor comfortably. The focus is on body movement and breath awareness, providing a gentle yet effective practise. Online classes can be purchased as a 6-week block or as drop-in sessions.
