Yogatribe with Leah is a welcoming and inclusive yoga studio located in Stanford-le-Hope, Essex. With a passion for promoting health, wellbeing, and unity, Leah Foley, a Sivananda yoga teacher and therapist, founded Yogatribe with the belief that “health is wealth, peace of mind is happiness, and yoga shows the way.
Yoga, which means 'to unite' or 'to be whole,' is an ancient discipline that originated in India thousands of years ago. In today's western world, yoga has become a widely recognised form of exercise and a means of relieving the stresses of modern life. The studio emphasises that yoga can be practised by anyone, regardless of age, health, fitness level, or background. It is truly inclusive and open to all.
The benefits of practising yoga are endless. Physically, yoga tones and strengthens the body, enhances vitality, and improves balance. Mentally, it improves concentration, memory, and creativity, while also providing emotional stability and serenity. Yoga goes beyond the physical and can lead to self-awareness and liberation.
Yogatribe emphasises the five points of yoga. Proper exercise, also known as asanas, helps develop a strong and healthy body by improving flexibility and circulation. Proper breathing, known as pranayama, reduces stress and promotes better health. Proper relaxation helps the body to avoid overload, easing worries and fatigue.
Proper diet involves consuming simple, healthy, and vegetarian foods, which positively affect both the mind and body. Finally, positive thinking and meditation are the keys to achieving peace of mind and eliminating negativity.
Leah's journey with yoga began in her teenage years, finding it to be a great stress release alongside her dance classes. Throughout her life, she worked as a model, dancer, and in the film industry. However, after experiencing grief for many years following her mother's passing, she rediscovered and fully embraced yoga in 1996. Inspired by her teacher, Victoria Jane Adamson, Leah eventually became a certified yoga teacher herself, obtaining the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Diploma in 2002.
The training was a deeply spiritual experience for Leah, who continues to enhance her skills and knowledge by attending workshops and seminars with various teachers from different lineages, such as Shiva Rea and Claire.
At Yogatribe with Leah, the focus is on creating a supportive and nurturing environment where individuals can come together to practise and experience the transformative power of yoga.
