Yoga with Tori Leicester is a welcoming and relaxed yoga studio located in Birstall, Leicester. The studio is owned and operated by Tori Magee, a certified and experienced yoga instructor.
Tori has been practising yoga since she was a teenager and has always been intrigued by its physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits. In her 20s, she explored various yoga classes but struggled to find a space that was completely beginner-friendly while still staying true to the traditions of yoga.
To deepen her understanding of yoga, Tori studied Traditional Hatha Yoga in the Himalayas of India and Nepal in 2013 and 2014. This experience gave her a greater appreciation for a holistic approach to health and well-being, incorporating clean eating, mindfulness, and meditation alongside physical yoga practise. She found that this approach significantly improved her overall outlook on life.
Tori's goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental, and encouraging environment for her students to cultivate gratitude and love for themselves and others. She aims to make yoga accessible to everyone, regardless of their physical ability, injuries, or conditions.
Tori holds a 200-hour Yoga Alliance Teaching Certification from Bhakti Yogshala, Rishikesh, India, which focused on proper alignment of asanas (poses) and anatomy. This foundation enables her to help students with physical injuries and chronic conditions through movement. She also incorporates mantra, pranayama (breathing techniques), and meditation into her beginner classes.
Additionally, Tori has a 500-hour Yoga Alliance Advanced Teaching Certification from Guruji A L V Kumar of Traditional Yoga & The Yoga Healing Foundation of India. Through this certification, Tori gained a deeper understanding of the origins of Yogic Philosophy and the connexion between physical and spiritual cleansing for overall health. She learned the importance of using Ayurvedic nutrition and Shat Kriya cleansing for the well-being of the body, mind, and eternal energy.
At Yoga with Tori Leicester, both beginners and experienced yogis can find classes suitable for their needs. Tori incorporates traditional teachings and her extensive knowledge to create an authentic yoga experience. Her classes last for one hour and follow a similar structure with variations, including pranayama, mantra chanting, seated and standing asana (static poses), and guided meditation.
