About

Canberra PCYC is excited to announce the opening of a brand new café, where the Youth Work Experience Hospitality and Barista Program will take place. Supported by Hunter Investment Corporation HEZ Hunter Economic Zone and Lovett Tower, this program is dedicated to providing young disadvantaged individuals with valuable experience in the field of hospitality and the art of being a barista.

Participants in the program will have the incredible opportunity to gain hands-on learning in a fully operational café. Not only that, but they will also have the chance to enrol in and complete a Certificate IV course in Hospitality with our support. This will undoubtedly help them in their future career endeavours and open up many employment opportunities in the industry.

As part of the program, participants will also have the chance for casual employment at large events held at Wakefield Park. This is a fantastic way for them to showcase their newfound skills and gain even more experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Additionally, the program is linked to an employment provider who will work with cafés and restaurants outside the program to offer further employment opportunities for our graduates.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Hunter Investment Corporation HEZ Hunter Economic Zone and Lovett Tower for their continuous support. Thanks to their generosity, we can make a real difference in the lives of young people in our community. Canberra PCYC's CEO Cheryl O'Donnell and Chairman Frank Cavasinni have played a crucial role in fostering this partnership, and we are incredibly fortunate to have them both on board.

This program is specifically designed to provide young people experiencing trauma, individuals with disabilities, and any young person seeking a promising career path with the skills and experience necessary to be job-ready and have the ability to step into other roles. At Canberra PCYC, we are passionate about changing lives and empowering individuals to create pathways to a better future for themselves.

The café will be opening its doors on Tuesday, August 9th, and we encourage everyone to come and show their support. Whether you're looking for a delicious coffee to start your day, a scrumptious breakfast, or a satisfying lunch, our café has it all. By enjoying a meal or a beverage at our café, you are directly supporting Canberra PCYC and the incredible work we do in the community.

We hope to see you on August 9th and beyond at the Canberra PCYC café, where great coffee and even greater causes come together.
