Dance, and other traditional Asian performing arts. Led by Sifu Wilson Lo and his team of talented instructors, Canberra Dragon Dance has become a prominent fixture in Canberra's cultural events and celebrations.
At Yut Hung Kung Fu Academy and Canberra Dragon Dance, we offer a range of classes for both kids/teens and teens/adults. Our kids/teens classes are held on Mondays and Fridays at the Gibbons Pavilion, Radford College during school terms. For teens/adults, classes are held on Sundays at the University of Canberra Refectory all year round, except over the Christmas period.
During these classes, students not only learn practical self-defence techniques but also gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for Asian martial arts and performing arts. Our curriculum includes Yee Kuen (Yi Quan) Kung Fu, Cheng Style Ba Gwa, and the Filipino art of Black Eagle Eskrima for weaponry. We provide written materials and online videos to help students practise at home and offer grading opportunities to track their progress.
While competing at local tournaments is optional, we encourage our students to participate and provide additional training for those interested. Our academy operates traditionally, fostering a sense of camaraderie and mutual respect among members. Students often form lasting friendships and engage in social activities outside of class.
In addition to our martial arts classes, we are proud to have established Canberra Dragon Dance. This professional Asian Performing Arts team has become the largest and most esteemed group of its kind in Canberra. We perform at various public and private events and festivals, bringing the vibrant traditions of Asian culture to life.
