Craig Decke, the organiser at Zenshin Karate & Martial Arts – Quinton in Birmingham, has a straightforward message for the sports community. Craig and his wife, Desma, started the club back in January 1998 after moving from Perth, Western Australia. Since then, Zenshin Karate has grown into one of the top clubs in the West Midlands.
This club is backed by the World United Martial Arts (WUMA) Federation, meaning members can train anywhere in the world and have their grades recognised internationally. The club's commitment to quality training is clear.
With several classes each week at different locations, Zenshin Karate offers something for everyone. They have the “Little Dragon's” programme for kids aged 4 to 8, the “Young Samurai's” for those aged 9 to 13, and the “Senior’s” for anyone 14 and over.
Training at Zenshin Karate goes beyond just physical fitness. Members work on coordination, flexibility, balance, reflexes, and agility. Plus, they learn discipline, respect, patience, and focus—skills that help in all areas of life.
Zenshin Karate also includes practical self-defence techniques in their classes, which are especially useful for real-world situations. They run specific sessions for women's self-defence, too, making sure everyone feels safe.
There’s also a Junior Leaders programme aimed at developing leadership skills in younger members. This not only helps in karate but boosts confidence at school and in everyday life.
Craig invites everyone, whether you're new to martial arts or looking to improve your skills, to join Zenshin Karate. With expert instructors and a welcoming community, it’s a great place to train. Why not give it a go and see how karate can make a difference in your life?
