Aberfeldie Netball Club is a well-established sports club located in Melbourne, Australia. The club actively participates in the Winter and Spring seasons of the Essendon District Netball Association (EDNA) competition. At Aberfeldie, they pride themselves on being a supportive and inclusive family club that provides a friendly and welcoming environment for players of all ages and skill levels.
One of the unique aspects of Aberfeldie Netball Club is their philosophy of not having "Try-Outs” or player grading. Instead, they encourage teams to stay together, allowing the players to form strong bonds and friendships while enjoying the game together. This approach fosters a sense of camaraderie and team spirit that extends beyond the court.
The club currently has 17 registered teams for the 2023 EDNA Winter/Spring season, catering to various age groups. They have teams in the NetSetGo category for 8-10 year olds, and teams for 11& Under, 13& Under, 15& Under, 17& Under, and Open divisions. The teams are named after various natural phenomena, such as Asteroids, Crystals, Gems, Diamonds, Meteors, Opals, Suns, Cyclones, Hurricanes, Typhoons, Flames, Pearls, Sapphires, Storm, Rockets, Stars, and Tornadoes.
Each team is assigned a club-appointed Coach and Team Manager who coordinate training sessions and team-related communications. Training sessions are held once a week at the Aberfeldie Primary School, with Thursday nights being the designated training night for the 2023 season.
Aberfeldie Netball Club encourages community involvement and is always on the lookout for new committee members to support the smooth functioning of the club. Those interested in joining the committee can email the Secretary at secretary@aberfeldienetball. Com. au.
The current committee members for 2023 include the President (Vacant), Vice President Heather Gleeson, Treasurer Blair McFarlane, Secretary Jen Ashton, Uniform Coordinator Jodi Hislop, Equipment Coordinator (Vacant), Coach Coordinator Coz Habben, Child Safety Officer Nonie Keep, and General Committee members Nicole Johnson, Sally Whiteway, and Sarah Kurczycki.

The club's commitment to excellence is reflected in their collaboration with Netball Victoria, the governing body for netball in the state. All players are required to register with Netball Victoria, which provides insurance coverage for injuries and other benefits. The annual Netball Victoria Membership (NVM) fees vary depending on whether the player is a junior or senior participant. These fees are in addition to the club fees and need to be paid before the player can train and play with Aberfeldie Netball Club.
For more information on NVM fees and registration, interested individuals can visit the Netball Victoria website.
Aberfeldie Netball Club takes pride in its close-knit community, dedication to player development, and commitment to fostering a love for netball among players of all ages. Whether you are a seasoned player or new to the sport, Aberfeldie Netball Club provides a supportive and inclusive environment where you can enhance your skills, form lasting friendships, and have fun on and off the court.
