The Australian Climbing Association Queensland Inc. (ACAQ) is the peak body for recreational climbing in Queensland and is recognised as such by QPWS (Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service). They are members of QORF (Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation), the overall peak body for outdoor recreational activities in the state.
The ACAQ is dedicated to doing the necessary work that allows climbers to enjoy their sport freely. They strive to establish channels of communication to ensure that the climbing community's voice is heard on land access issues, whether it be in the private, local government, or state government sectors. They draught management policies to ensure the sustainability of the limited climbing estate and provide input on state and local government plans and policies relating to outdoor recreation.
Funding for the ACAQ comes from both direct membership and associate membership through major climbing clubs. They aim to legitimise the climbing community as valid stakeholders in plans that impact outdoor recreational spaces. They also have a strong focus on access and have an active Facebook Group where climbers can discuss access-related matters.
The ACAQ hosts an Annual General Meeting (AGM) every year where members can come together to discuss important matters and make decisions. They also provide resources for climbers, such as the new Climber's Guidelines (code of conduct) and updated Terms and Conditions, which can be downloaded from their website.
For individuals or organisations interested in collaborating with the ACAQ, there are options available that can be explored on their website. They are proud to be powered by WordPress.
