About
Bonville Creek Kayak Club is the formal incorporated body, which commenced life as the Bonville Bashers way back in the mid 1980s.
It commenced life as a group of mid aged people using paddle craft to achieve some level of physical exercise. The level of exercise was elevated by a touch of competition. Handicap racing evolved to enhance the competition and compensate for varying levels of fitness, skill, and craft. Since that time nothing much has changed.
Handicap racing takes place every Saturday afternoon with race distances varying from 5 km to 8 km. The first Saturday in the month members have the option to tackle longer courses up to 27 km. The racing is `serious’ fun, and it is incumbent upon all members to see that nobody gets to serious about the results. It is more important to have fun.
All types of craft can be and are accommodated, from slalom boats to K1s/K2s and unlimited Ocean skis.
