About
To say that DLS Seagulls is the new kid on the block is, literally speaking, quite correct but in real terms it’s not. This club is an amalgamation (like Como Jannali) where common sense and a sense of history together with a desire to provide cricket for kids indicated it was time to combine. Based at the eastern end of the Shire and having a limited area from which to draw these clubs came together in 2002/03.
DLS stems from De la Salle Caringbah and goes back to 61/62. Two men who played a large part in those early days of DLS were Bill Cox (Foundation member and first Vice President) and Jim Turpie (President). The club started with one team the first year and amazingly the next year 62/63, it registered 10 teams. Over the years it proved a very competitive club based on the college at Caringbah.
In its final year 98/99 under the guidance of Ron Arnold it fielded the premiership winning 16A team thus going out in a blaze of glory.
