First Tae Kwon Do is a traditional non-competitive martial art that goes beyond self-defence effectiveness. Through discipline, mental training, and varied techniques, the practise of First Tae Kwon Do instils a strong sense of confidence, fortitude, compassion, humility, and resolve in its practitioners. This focus on mental conditioning sets true practitioners apart from those who have only mastered the physical aspects of the martial art.
Benefits of training in First Tae Kwon Do are numerous. Students develop self-defence skills, enhance their fitness and overall health, improve coordination, gain self-confidence, increase flexibility and strength, practise self-discipline and self-control, improve balance, enhance concentration and mental focus, and cultivate respect and self-esteem. Additionally, the practise of setting and achieving goals is a fundamental part of the training.
First Tae Kwon Do - Noranda offers classes in and around Perth, including the surrounding Western Australian countryside. Interested individuals can visit the Training Centres link on the club's website to find a class near them.
The history of Tae-Kyon, the ancient art of unarmed combat that originated in Korea during the Silla Dynasty approximately 1300 years ago, is an integral part of First Tae Kwon Do. Initially practised by monks, Tae-Kyon evolved as a means of self-defence and was eventually adopted by the Hwa Rang Do, a group of dedicated and fearless youth who defended the Silla kingdom. This art of unarmed combat played a significant role in unifying the three kingdoms of Silla, Koguryo, and Baekebae.
During the Yi Dynasty, the practise of Tae-Kyon was discouraged in favour of literary arts, leading to a decline in its development. The occupation of Korea by the Japanese further suppressed the practise of Tae-Kyon, almost driving it to extinction. However, after liberation, the intense feelings of patriotism and national pride revived the practise of Tae-Kyon, which eventually became known worldwide as Taekwondo.
First Tae Kwon Do - Noranda is part of this rich history of Taekwondo. With deep roots in traditional martial arts, the club offers a progressive and effective modern art that promotes physical fitness, mental conditioning, and personal growth.
