Gold Coast City Regional Basketball Association (GCCRBA) is a progressive sports club located in Gold Coast, Australia. Their primary goal is to provide opportunities for community members to participate in basketball in a family-friendly environment. They pride themselves on creating an inclusive atmosphere for all members, ensuring that everyone feels welcome and supported.
First established in 1959, Gold Coast Basketball Association has a rich history and has become a prominent organisation in the local basketball community. They have deep respect for the Traditional Custodians of the land, the Kombumerri families of the Yugambeh Language Region, and acknowledge their ongoing connexion to the land and community.
GCCRBA offers various competitions for both boys and girls in age groups ranging from U10 to U21. These competitions provide a pathway for junior basketball players on the Gold Coast to develop their skills and showcase their talents. Some affiliated clubs in the Junior League include Banora Point Amigos, Burleigh Blades, Gold Coast Celtics, and Heat Basketball Club, among others.
To participate in the Junior League, interested players must register through the affiliated clubs. It is essential to contact a club beforehand to ensure there is availability in a team for your child. Detailed registration information can be found on the club's website, including contact information and links to register.
Aside from the competitive leagues, GCCRBA also offers a development programme called Miniball. This programme is designed for children aged 5 to 10 and aims to introduce them to basketball in a structured and accredited environment. Miniball focuses on skill development, self-esteem enhancement, social cooperation, and grassroots sports participation. Accredited coaches lead the programme, which includes warm-up games, skill activities, and modified games.
Gold Coast Basketball conducts an eight-week Miniball programme each school term. Registration for the programme includes a Gold Coast Basketball Reversible training singlet and eight training sessions. The programme takes place at various locations, including the Gold Coast Sports & Leisure Centre and Somerset College.
