An artificial wall with grips for hands and feet allows participants to climb indoors, with added safety options compared to its outdoor equivalent. Climbers try to scale a wall using a path of grips attached to the wall, often secured with a climbing harness and soft mats to land on. Belay devices are used for a climber to descend safely after falling.
