About

“Payatt” or “Kalari-Payatt” (കളരിപ്പയറ്റ് Kalarippayattu) meaning “School of fighting” is a carefully structured programme of self-development and self-defence. This centuries old martial discipline features both empty hands and classical Indian weapons. Kalari Payatt promotes a holistic conditioning of the body and mind through subtle Yoga like moves and internal energy training.

"Adi Mura” (അടി മുറ Way of Striking) or “Thekkan Kalari” (തെക്കന്‍ കളരി Southern School) is an impact based fighting style focusing on empty hand combat with emphasis on pressure point attacks (Varma Kalai മര്‍മ്മ കല).

“Nadan Kalari” (നാടന്‍ സമ്പ്രദായം Folk style) - Nadan styles are those practised secretly by certain families or clans/castes. These styles focus on practical fighting skills with no flashy moves. Nadan styles are usually mid-range or close-range fighting styles.
